When I first met with Lynne, she assured me that our daughter would be okay—that she was an intelligent girl with Dyslexia and Executive Functioning problems. We had pursued so many programs at so many other places, and I thought we were being lead down the same road.
I couldn’t have been more wrong. Everyone at Merrill Educational Center is welcoming and warm. Lynne, who calls her students “my kids,” takes a deeply personal interest in their success. She is upbeat and positive—all of the time. You can sense the love that she has for what she does and the children she teaches. She is the quintessential teacher; we are glad she is in our lives.
Our daughter will never “NOT be Dyslexic,” but listening to her read with fluency and comprehension, you would never know that! Lynne did what she promised, and it has made a difference for our whole family.
Lynne Merrill has become a trusted member of our family as she has helped our oldest son significantly improve both his reading speed and comprehension skills. Her ability to quickly establish a trusted relationship with him helped to create an environment where she challenged him to excel. Her reward system was something that really incentivized our son to do well. I had started off a new year in math not doing well. It really discouraged me, and my self-confidence was dropping. Then I came to Nicole and she helped me tremendously. Not only did she simplify all of the things that had been made so complicated, but she helped me become one of the top scoring students in my class on tests and quizzes. By the end of the year I had everything down and I was even awarded the Math Achievement award from my teacher. I am so grateful for all Nicole has done for me this year.
Nicole Dudley at Merrill Educational Center saw my son for math remediation during third grade. He was failing math at school and was at the ninth percentile. He did not know his addition and subtraction facts–let alone multiplication. By the end of the program, my son was independently tested and scored at the 91st percentile. The teacher, aide, and other parents wanted to know what had changed him from a struggling student into a student now performing on a fifth grade level, with a mastery of concepts not yet explored at school. He loves math, now!
I can’t say enough about the Merrill Educational Center. Being parents of a child with processing issues, it was very difficult for our child to become academically sound in mathematics. The staff has been great–right from our initial consultation with Lynne Merrill to scheduling issues with Wendy, our needs have been met. The individualized attention and teaching techniques that Nicole has provided to our daughter has given her greater academic confidence and has boosted her grades.
Nicole’s patience to meet our child’s needs is praiseworthy. Daily, she strengthens our daughter’s understanding through daily repetition of math skills and problem solving. As a result of the continuity with Nicole, our daughter has risen two grade levels in six months!
